François Annibal d'Estrées delivered a manuscript to Carthusian Monks in 1605. In it, a secret recipe for chartreuse herbal liquor was unlocked. This tie reminds me of colors reminiscent of a chartreuse hue! Today the liqueur is produced in their distillery in nearby Aiguenoire. It is composed of distilled alcohol aged with 130 herbs, plants and flowers.
